Pre-budget Consultation Canada's Place in a Competitive World The National Children's Alliance has submitted a brief to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance Pre-Budget Consultation process entitled "Canada's Place in a Competitive World". Because the consultation is very narrowly focussed on measures to increase global competitiveness, we chose not to make specific monetary recommendations but rather to remind the committee of the important contribution which children and youth will make in the future as the next generation of our workforce, and the importance of supports to children and youth now in creating a healthy society that will keep us competitive. We drew heavily on the excellent work of the Canadian Council on Social Development in their Progress of Canada's Children and Youth 2006 report as the framework for our submission. To view more details from this report, please see their great website at http://www.ccsd.ca/pccy/2006/ To read a copy of our brief entitled Canada's Children and Youth - Securing our Future in a Competitive World, click here for a copy in Adobe pdf format.
